Daily Spiritual Excercies

If we’re only ever given a daily reprieve based on our spiritual condition, then it’s vital for us to practice our spiritual lives on a daily basis.

Metamorphosis doesn’t happen without our artful participation.

Spiritual Exercises are uniquely developed by each individual in recovery. There are no set guidelines, but in following our literature, spiritual exercise should consist of various forms of meditations, prayers and self-examination. The purpose is to help oneself deepen their relationship with a Higher Power.

Here’s some ideas to incorporate in a spiritual routine

  • Meditation
  • Prayer
  • Step Work
  • Writing in a journal
  • Reading spiritual texts
  • Yoga
  • Tai chi
  • Qigong
  • Going for a walk
  • Painting
  • Dancing
  • Keeping a gratitude journal

Most people will tell you that five minutes of daily spiritual exercise is far more rewarding than practicing a spiritual routine for for 30 minutes once a week. The key to any spiritual practice is consistency. Remember, it is a commitment to nurturing yourself by building a relationship with your Higher Power.
